NATURAL INTRICACIES

These pieces are all related in that they are a reflection on my personal attraction and awe of the detailed makeup of creation.

As the ideas behind this series were emerging, I was going through a very difficult time in my art-making process. I had been trying to use the same approaches that I'd been accustomed to from the start of my short artistic "career", and everything that I was coming up with seemed completely empty. I felt that I needed to be personally interested and dedicated to whatever was motivating my work, and only then would I gain the possibility of creating successful art. So I went back to the basics of what I loved about creation, nature, physical manifestation.

Natural Intricacies is a group of work that illustrates this time of humbling myself and discarding my conditioned notions about the way my art was to look and feel. Kind of like coming free from the Religion of Art and back to the Spirit.
